The Redding Rancheria offers a part-day Native American Head Start program to eligible children in our Children’s Center at 1950 Redding Rancheria Road. The school year starts the shortly after Labor Day and follows the public school calendar. The program runs from 7:30 – 12:15 five days a week and limited transportation by school bus is available. Head Start is a federally funded program and has strict eligibility requirements, with Native Americans, special needs and low income children having priority. (Children must be three by 12/1 of the fall term; four year olds have priority over three year olds.) Parents do not need to be working or going to school to be eligible, but must be low income. There is no fee for the Head Start program. Currently accepting applications!

All programs offer the USDA “School Lunch” program to all participants at no additional charge.

The Redding Rancheria also offers a Native American Child Care program. Like Head Start, our Child Care program is also federally funded, but has a completely different set of eligibility requirements.

There are three components to our child care program:

1. Subsidized Child Care (Off-Site):
   This program helps reimburse you for the cost of your child care if you are working or going to school. Parents must submit monthly documentation confirming their income eligibility. Parent fees are calculated on a sliding scale based on gross monthly income and family size. This program serves children birth to age 13. Must be Native American for this program.
2. Subsidized Child Care (On-Site):
   The Redding Rancheria also offers child care at our Children's Center at 1950 Redding Rancheria Road. Head Start children enrolled at our school as well as kindergarten through fourth grade are served. (Note: Head Start children are accepted on an individual basis, as not all preschoolers can adapt to a full day.) To be eligible, you must be Native American, working or going to school. Limited transportation via our Head Start school bus is available. Accepting applications. Call for information on which school are currently served.
3. Private Pay Child Care (On-Site):
   For those families over the income ceiling, private pay child care is available at our site at 1950 Redding Rancheria Road, ages 3 thru 11. Private pay is only available in our Child Care program (not available in Head Start) and is only available if vacancies exist. Native Americans have preference, but it is not required for private pay families.
